Isca Morris Family Weekend September 2000 Photos
At the 2000 Family Weekend, the performances kicked off with a visit to Penhow Castle where the crowds were entertained:

John O'Gaunt in full flow Ripley Morrismen
We were delighted to have Jenny Hill, current Northern Clog Dancing Champion (for the last 3 years), amongst our guests:

who was followed by the irreplaceable Brisingamen

and our new visitors, Padiham Panache who were in fine form:

performances over, the tours head off for their different pubs. At the Star Inn over in Llanfihangel Tor-y-Mynydd, the Old Speckled Hen sparkle:

and are followed by the Broadsweynpit Men (representatives from Broadwood, Sweyns Ey and Paragon Pit!)

and an encore from Jenny, now clearly showing off her well deserved championship belt whilst the landlady looks on:

whilst over at the Lion Inn, the Ripley Morrismen show off their latest lady recruit (complete with White? shoes) as they perform:

By the Sunday, performances have moved on to Magor, where we've closed off the centre and all the groups are in full swing. Adlington Morrismen demonstrate some style:

and here come Brisingamen again:

And to round off this selection, our Lancashire Cloggers, the John O'Gaunt Morrismen:

and finally, mine hosts, Isca Morris, field two sets of members, including some who now also dance for other groups:

on returning to Brynglas House, with the Family Weekend having a circus theme, this provided the basis for an impromptu performance from all our visitors at the end of Saturday's tours. With an amusing hour or so to wind down before the evening activities begin, the entertainment was compered by George, one of our regulars who was quick to bring on the clowns

Many of our guests were well prepared, from the Sweyns Ey bare backed rider on her (Black and Decker work) horse

to the miscellaneous tightrope walkers (ballet or otherwise)!!

Following on, a real treat from the Adlington unicyclists, with our other shimmeringly flash compere, Adrian in the background:

But back to our more amateurish fun loving competitors. It's a lion tamer, well at least a warm up for the piece de resistance to follow

as Ripley Morrismen play their trump card with the georgeous Lucy, the lion tamer complete with leather boots and whip (put your tongues back in lads!!)

what's this, a surfit of lions, well can we all join in then!

oh well, fun over for another year. Let's hope next years old time music hall is just as much fun.
