The Morris Ring 2003 Annual Representatives Meeting

Lecture and the Start of the Feast

Following the ARM the delegates were given a short presentation by local historian and author, Alan Roderick, on the origins of Welsh Morris Dancing & Music and the local Mari Lwyd & Mumming Plays.

Well can you hear me at the back. Now part of the local tradition is this Monmouth Cap which the Isca men wear and which I will just put on to show you now . . .

. . .  and after that the rest of the lecture went swimmingly.

Now we take our dancing very seriously so we'll just have a quick practice of a double jig before the Feast starts, this lounge will do .  .  .

Following a short relaxation break for most delegates, the men re-assembled for the start of the Feast and were entertained by a local harpist

after carrying in the full size concert harp, the music began . . .

and was much enjoyed by all.
