The Morris Ring 2003 Annual Representatives Meeting

Sunday Dancing

To round off the weekend, the dancing was opened up to the public on the Sunday and the delegates were joined by representatives from the local Morris dancing sides and by a joint Welsh dancing team from the groups Cwmni Gwerin Pont y Pwl and Gwerinwyr Gwent. In addition the Mayor of Monmouth Town Council pictured right and the local Monmouthshire member of the Welsh Assembly took part, as well as a number of media representatives.

And so at the early hour of 10.30 am with the sun already up, the joint musicians started up .  .  .

.  .  .  and whilst the Isca men got the dancing session organised

.  .  . the Gloucestershire Morrismen, who had turned out in force to support Isca, took over with a couple of dances .  .  .

.  .  .  by now David Davies, the local Monmouthshire member of the Welsh Assembly, was itching to join in and along with Cliff Marchant, the Squire of the Morris Ring, took part in a version of Constant Billy. And despite never having danced before (and Cliff also claimed not to know this dance!!) he didn't do too badly  .  .  .

. .  . managing to finish with all fingers intact !!

and then it was the turn of the Welsh dancing team from Cwmni Gwerin Pont y Pwl and Gwerinwyr Gwent .  .  .

.  .  .  with a varied selection of local dances which were well received

followed by some more massed dancing

.  .  . with lots of representatives taking part

and still the sun continued to shine .  .  .

.  .  .  time for another spot from the Gloucestershire men

.

and a final spot from the Welsh dancers  .  .  .

followed by more massed Morris dances before  .  .  .

.  .  .  it was time for a final group photograph
