Wednesday 16th May Crow Valley Tour
|
 |
This week we stay close to our practice area dancing in the Valley of the Crow at two of the older pubs in the area.

We start off the tour in Upper Cwmbran at an old pub set on a lane running towards the top of the mountain which has a fantastic view on a fine day:-
8.30 p.m. Bush Inn, Upper Cwmbran

The Bush is a lovely friendly pub on the edge of the mountainside above Cwmbran, it has a split-level interior with bar and lower cottage parlour. On a clear day the small patio at the front gives superb views across to the Severn Estuary and beyond.

The pub was previously two cottages used by workers at the once thriving, but now sadly defunct, adjacent quarry, mine and brickyards which were the focus of a thriving local industry in the last century.
9.30 p.m. Mount Pleasant, Old Cwmbran

We now move on dropping down through the various suburbs of Cwmbran to another older part of Cwmbran, the original Old Cwmbran.

The Mount Pleasant is an excellent community pub set above Wesley Street in what could be described as the ecclesiastical centre of Cwmbran, having several religious establishments as neighbours and with the local vicars as occasional regulars.

A family run pub, The Mount offers a number of very well kept real ales and an excellent food menu served along with a warm and friendly welcome in this welcome oasis from the usual drab town centre pubs.

Do come and see us at some stage and if you have a liking for tradition then you will be made very welcome. For those males amongst you who enjoy a pint or two and would like to keep fit then you will be ideal as a dancer.

If you are a musician of either sex who enjoys folk music, then again you will be well received, so whatever instrument you play, provided that it is portable, come and join us and learn our music. Come along and we'll ensure that you enjoy yourself and hopefully come back for more as we tour our area over the summer months.

If you require any more information then please check our Contact and Feedback page for our current officers telephone numbers or email us at our address: Enquiries 'at' Isca-Morrismen.com.
