Isca Morrismen in Action on S4C

The Isca Morrismen were recently called upon to take part in promotional advertising for the 6 Nations Rugby between Wales and England.

Members of the group spent a very long morning in the studio which was lined with green on walls and floor - a very strange experience at first.

We were required to take the part of English morris dancers being rugby tackled whilst dancing and since we were supposed to be an English team for the advert, all traces of our red, white and green in the costume were replaced by red and white.   Our red sashes came in very useful and were doubled up and pinned together with some badges to take the appearance of baldricks - after about half an hour in wardrobe we re-emerged suitably attired for the part.

Some four and a half hours of filming followed, an interesting but very tiring experience and we were pleased with the end result which contributed to raising the overall profile of Morris Dancing:-

Isca Morrismen, this time in normal kit and with a full team, were also involved in filming part of the S4C programme Bwrw`r Bar with the team captains taking part in our dancing during the show transmitting on the Friday prior to the Welsh rugby international against England.

The photos below are published courtesy of Dave Beck who along with Les Chittleburgh, Steve Hunt and George Causley took part in the filming.   Thanks are also due to S4C for permission to reproduce the videos and part of their webpage above and for allowing us to take photographs during the filming.   For the rugby tackle, George was replaced by his stunt double and a good time was had by all.

Please enjoy their real ales and visit their websites to learn more by clicking on the pictures.

We also acknowledge the support and encouragement of The Mount Pleasant in Old Cwmbran, our after-practice venue during the winter.
