2009 Tours - Monday 4th May
May Bank Holiday Tour

9.30 a.m.  Newport Cathedral, Newport

Time for photos after a short dance session at the Cathedral Press for a map of how to find Newport Cathedral

It has become a bit of a tradition over the last few years to dance in front of the entrance to Newport Cathedral where we are usually welcomed by the Canon who likes to encourage the local population to experience the performance and sounds of the morris.

An old pub set on the main Twyn Square which specialises in selling only excellent Welsh ales and local food.  The Nags Head is a friendly free house in the centre of Usk and an establishment that we visit regularly.

We will dance in our usual spot by the roundabout on the road opposite the pub and after a few dances retire inside to relax before moving on to Abergavenny.

For our next spot we visit a long established local institution in Flannel Street which is currently run by Brains Brewers.  This large and very friendly pub is just off the main shopping street and has a strong local clientele and one of the largest real ale consumptions in Abergavenny.  Let's hope that the audience is just as enthusiastic about our dancing!!

3.00 p.m.  Magor Spring Fair

Dancing in Magor Square to an appreciative crowdPress for a map of how to find the Magor Spring Fair

After lunch the groups will move on and will be dancing at the traditional Spring Fair held each year in the main square in front of the Golden Lion.  This has become something of a tradition over the years and a very welcoming spot.

Do come and see us at some stage and if you have a liking for tradition then you will be made very welcome.  For those males amongst you who enjoy a pint or two and would like to keep fit then you will be ideal as a dancer.

If you are a musician of either sex who enjoys folk music, then again you will be well received, so whatever instrument you play, provided that it is portable, come and join us and learn our music.  Come along and we'll ensure that you enjoy yourself and hopefully come back for more as we tour our area over the summer months.

If you require any more information then please check our Contact and Feedback page for our current officers telephone numbers or email us at our address: Enquiries 'at' Isca-Morrismen.com. We are a lively bunch and travel a fair bit with our activities, both in the UK and Overseas, so come on - contact us today and join in the fun, you'll not regret it!

This year we are delighted that our traditional dancing programme is being sponsored by local Welsh Breweries, producers of excellent real ale to whom we are grateful for their wholehearted support.

Please enjoy their real ales and visit their websites to learn more by clicking on the pictures.

We also acknowledge the support and encouragement of The Mount Pleasant in Old Cwmbran, our after-practice venue during the winter.
